Naomi Triebwasser

From Gilford Island

Nenagwas, also known as Naomi, hails from Gilford Island, Alert Bay, and Blunden Harbour. She has been singing all her life, blending traditional and contemporary styles. Naomi has had the pleasure of performing alongside The Tenors and has shared her love of Kwak̕wala by teaching singing and dancing at her childhood elementary school. She is excited to embark on her new journey at the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) and is working with Producer/Engineer Wynn Gogol on her debut EP.

Her NeuzTec 9 piece, Hutłilala gax̱a̱n (Listen To Me), intertwines traditional songs from the Kwakwa̱ka̱’wakw people with modern and contemporary elements to address the critical issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women in a beautiful, yet powerful and emotive way.

Bio published by NeuzTec for NeuzTec 9 (2024), as Nenagwas.
