Midden

From Vancouver, BC · NeuzTec 2019

Midden (Evan Hardy) is a Vancouver based musician, artist and archaeologist, who uses modular synth, field recordings, and other instruments to create compositions inspired and shaped by the weighted complexities associated with working with the distant past – while living in the present. These compositions mirror the stratigraphic structure of middens. Midden has played at a number of festivals including Glasgow International (Glasgow, UK), Sled Island (Calgary, AB), Case-Tétte (Prince George, BC), Hexistential (Vancouver, BC), Neuztec (Victoria, BC) and Big Joy (Vancouver, BC). Since 2021 Midden has worked with Vancouver’s Bent Window records, to release “Summary” (discography 2015-2020) and a split with Connecticut’s Stone Jaw (2022). Bent Window records will be releasing Midden’s new full length “Nothing New Under The Sun” in June 2023. Midden’s new material focusses more processing acoustic instruments with tape and different synthesis techniques to create a compositions that mirror the beauty BC’s Gulf Islands where Hardy grew up.
